Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Kenneth Griffin is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Citadel. A diverse financial institution, the Citadel group includes Citadel, an industry-leading alternative asset manager; Citadel Securities, one of the leading liquidity providers in America’s capital markets; and Citadel Technology, a solutions provider for investment management technology.
Mr. Griffin graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University. He is an active supporter of educational causes that drive community improvement, and he serves on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Public Education Fund.
Within the business community, Mr. Griffin is a member of numerous organizations, including the Economic Club of Chicago, G100 and the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago.
Mr. Griffin actively supports Chicago’s civic and cultural institutions. He is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Whitney Museum and the University of Chicago.

Chief Operating Officer
Gerald A. Beeson is the Chief Operating Officer of Citadel. As COO, he is responsible for the firm’s key corporate functions globally and is a member of Citadel’s Portfolio Committee. Prior to being named COO in 2008, Mr. Beeson served as Citadel’s Chief Financial Officer, a role he has held since 2003. Mr. Beeson joined Citadel in 1993 and was among the company’s first employees.
Mr. Beeson is currently a member of CFTC Market Risk Advisory Committee and previously served on the Board of Directors for the Managed Funds Association and The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation. He was named to Crain’s Chicago Business “Forty Under Forty” in 2007. He is a Trustee at DePaul University and a member of the Board of Directors for Marist High School and Big Shoulders Fund.
Mr. Beeson received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in Commerce with concentrations in Accountancy and Finance from DePaul University. He is registered as a certified public accountant with the State of Illinois.

Chief Legal Officer
Adam Cooper is Chief Legal Officer of Citadel. He is responsible for overseeing Citadel’s global Legal, Compliance, Transaction Management and Regulatory Affairs functions. Mr. Cooper is a member of Citadel’s Portfolio Committee.
Prior to joining Citadel in 1999, he was a partner with the Chicago law firm of Katten Muchin & Zavis (now known as Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP) where he practiced for 12 years.
Mr. Cooper is a member of the Board of Directors of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as well as the Leadership Board of the Chamber’s Center for Capital Markets Competitiveness. He is also a member of the Financial Markets Working Group of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and the Buyside General Counsel Committee of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Mr. Cooper previously served two terms as Chairman of the Managed Funds Association, the industry’s trade association. He has testified before the Senate Banking and the Senate Agriculture Committees, the House of Lords and the European Central Banking Supervision Committee, and he is a frequent speaker on industry matters. Mr. Cooper also serves on the Northwestern University School of Law Board and the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago Founders’ Board.
Mr. Cooper received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a law degree from Northwestern University School of Law.

Chief Data Officer
Alex Lurye is Chief Data Officer at Citadel and is a member of the firm’s Portfolio Committee. In this role, he leads the Centralized Data Organization within the firm, which is responsible for developing innovative, world-class techniques to strategically manage the massive flow of Big Data that serves as the cornerstone of Citadel’s fundamental and quantitative investing strategies.
Mr. Lurye joined Citadel in 2001, and since 2007 served as Head of Global Portfolio Construction and Risk, where he was responsible for Citadel’s risk measurement, monitoring and management process within and across the firm’s asset management and market-making businesses. In this role, he chaired Citadel’s Portfolio Committee, which determines the risk tolerance levels for the strategies, businesses, and funds as a whole.
Prior to joining Citadel, Mr. Lurye established and headed the Global FX Structured Products group at Credit Lyonnais. He began his career in the FX derivatives trading and quantitative research areas at Lehman Brothers and Warburg Dillon Read.
Mr. Lurye holds a bachelor’s degree from Polytechnic University and a Master of Business Administration from New York University.
