A Day in the Life

See how team members across Citadel put their talents to work.

Michael

Analyst, Surveyor Capital, New York City

I research technology and tech-enabled services companies, develop a view on each and refine my recommendations with relevant news and developments.

Stay Up to Date

I review each of my names for any material news that has an impact on how I think about my companies. I also call my sell-side and buy-side contacts to talk through anything important.

Build Models

I build detailed financial models of each of my companies in order to understand the fundamental variables that drive their stocks. In a way, these models summarize the output of my research, but they also highlight areas where I need to conduct additional research.

Interact Directly

An important part of my research process is interacting with management. I often attend conferences, travel to meet with management or speak with them over the phone.

Ravi

Financial Engineer, Global Equities IT, London

I am responsible for developing and managing processes/tools for constructing portfolios, managing risk and deploying alpha strategies.

Monitor

Throughout the day, I monitor the production jobs for risk management and trading strategies to ensure they are running smoothly and that any problems are immediately addressed.

Research

Most of my day is spent working closely with the QR team on different research projects for building custom risk models and deploying new trading strategies in addition to improving our existing strategies.

Interact

Another important aspect of my job is to interact with quantitative researchers/traders to brainstorm new ideas and make our existing processes better.

Mark

Chief Compliance Officer, New York

I manage Citadel’s compliance program on a global basis, including the development of compliance policies and procedures.

Advice

Throughout the day, I provide advice to Citadel personnel, particularly investment personnel, on compliance issues that they encounter in performing their jobs at Citadel. These interactions inform the training we develop for Citadel personnel.

Guide Execution

I work closely across the businesses to help facilitate the execution of their strategies in light of the current regulatory environment.

Monitor

Working closely with our global compliance team, I review the results of the monitoring and surveillance, including the review of electronic communications on Citadel’s systems to test compliance with applicable regulations and Citadel policies.
