Job Description

Overview:
Citadel is focused on acquiring, cleaning, and analyzing large, unstructured data sets to generate new insights. Given the vast amount of data being produced, Citadel is implementing new research methodologies to identify significant trends. The Sector Data Analytics group within Citadel Global Equities is committed to generating sustained alpha using a scientific approach to generate fundamental investment insights.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Coordinate with investment teams to understand their investment approach, and how data can support their research processes
  • Assist investment teams in understanding the key data drivers of companies and sectors
  • Analyze data from multiple sources to test complex investment theses
  • Quickly digest data, recognize inflection points, and determine data relevancy to the investment question at hand
  • Deliver high quality research to investment teams in a clear and digestible manner
  • Work with existing and new data sets to push significant ideas and decision support tools to investment teams
Required Attributes:
  • Intellectual curiosity with a genuine interest in investment
  • Professional demeanor, a capability to learn, think, and react quickly, along with exceptional communication and presentation skills as required for interaction with investment teams
  • Ability to consume sell side reports, understand fundamental investment theses & identify crucial data points
  • Creativity/ability to innovate, combined with a strong work ethic and organizational skills to efficiently handle demanding workload
  • Self-reliant and possessing good common sense
  • Comfort identifying, analyzing, and presenting novel data that is unique and useful
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, engineering, economics, business, computer science, or physics  
  • Advanced degree a plus, as are degrees spanning multiple disciplines
  • CFA or similar qualification a plus
Location:
New York, Chicago, San Francisco
Required Skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Python (including Pandas) and SQL
  • Strong background in statistical modelling
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Experience working with large, unstructured data sets
Preferred
  • Experience in the investment management industry
  • Proficiency with Excel and Bloomberg
In accordance with New York City’s Pay Transparency Law, the expected base salary range for this role is $125k-$175k. Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.
