“A strong emphasis on portfolio construction and risk management”

At its annual awards dinner in London, Risk Magazine announced that Citadel has been selected as “Hedge Fund of the Year,” recognizing the firm’s success at deploying world-class talent and technology to manage risk and serve our clients.

Risk writes:

“The firm places a strong emphasis on portfolio construction and risk management, employing cutting-edge technology and a team of around 30 dedicated risk managers to monitor and manage exposures across its hedge fund portfolios in real time.”

Accepting the award on Citadel’s behalf, Alex Lurye, head of Portfolio Construction and Risk at Citadel, credited the firm’s “innovative ideas, strong performance and risk management capabilities.”

“Markets give you an endless opportunity to learn and improve,” Citadel CEO Ken Griffin explained in an interview with Risk Magazine. “If we’re going to put up solid returns year in and year out, we have to be at the forefront of thinking about what drives asset prices, how we construct robust portfolios, how we manage risk, how we maximize returns, and how we can improve continuously in all those areas.”
