About

Matt joined the firm from Amazon, where he was a Vice President from 2018 to 2026. Most recently, he led Supply Chain Optimization Technology, the software organization behind Amazon’s global logistics network. At Amazon he also ran the global private label business, responsible for product development, manufacturing, and merchandising and additionally launched the Economic Technology team in his tenure there.

Prior to Amazon, he spent a decade at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business as a Professor of Econometrics and Statistics, and held senior research and data science roles at Microsoft. His publications span statistics, computer science, engineering, economics, and finance. He also authored Business Data Science, which shows how machine learning and economics can improve business decisions.

Matt received his PhD in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from the Baskin School of Engineering at UC Santa Cruz, where his research included work with NASA and the Sandia, Los Alamos, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories. He is originally from Canada and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from McGill University in Montréal.
